Coffee Support and Matrix Packaging - Working Together to Package What the Customer Needs
While performance is an important factor to consider when selecting a new bagging machine, you also need to review the brand, as well as its level of customer service. It was these factors and more that led Coffee Support to choose two Mercury vertical form fill seal machines from Matrix to fill its pillow packs for customers. With the combination of the two powerful machines, they were able to construct the exact coffee bagger solution for their output needs. Founded in 2021, Phoenix AZ based Coffee Support helps coffee shops of all sizes develop and package their own custom craft brands.
When selecting a new bagging machine, performance is crucial, but it's also important to consider the brand and customer service. These factors led Coffee Support, founded in 2021 in Phoenix, Arizona, to choose two Mercury vertical form-fill seal machines from Matrix to fill its pillow packs for customers. Coffee Support helps coffee shops develop and package custom craft brands, offering services from sourcing to roasting and cold brew production.
Coffee Support discovered Matrix at Pack Expo in Las Vegas. Previously, they had issues with customer support from another supplier. After meeting with Matrix, they felt confident in the partnership. The Matrix team provided valuable education and consultation, and their equipment's long-standing reputation aligned well with Coffee Support's needs.
The Mercury machines, capable of producing up to 140 bags per minute, feature a stainless steel frame, small footprint, and Nema 4X electrical enclosure. They can produce bag widths from 2 to 11 inches and lengths from 3 to 15 inches, controlled by an Allen-Bradley MicroLogix PLC system with a 7-inch color touchscreen. The machines' low footprint, ease of use, intuitive design, and quick changeover capabilities make them ideal for contract manufacturers like Coffee Support.
The two Mercury machines, installed about a month after Pack Expo, operate efficiently: one machine runs nine hours a day, five days a week, producing 2.5 and 3-ounce pillow packs at 65 bags per minute, while the other handles larger 5 or 8-ounce packs as needed. The machines' ability to adjust for different coffee roast densities by weight ensures consistency.
